Overview
Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. Carollo’s Water Applied Research Center (Water ARC®) provides nationwide process-based research expertise for both municipal and private sector clients for drinking water, wastewater, reuse, and infrastructure applications. Water ARC® services include laboratory-based bench treatability testing, equipment/pilot design and fabrication, and full-service support for field, pilot, and demonstration studies. We are seeking a Senior Research Scientist to join our laboratory treatability testing group in Boise, Idaho to help guide the way as we expand our services and team. As part of our team, you will work on projects related to all aspects of drinking water, wastewater, and reuse applications with lots of variability from project to project.

Responsibilities
- Manage multiple R&D projects of varying complexity and project duration
- Mentor and train laboratory team personnel and be a leader in team building
- Prepare/review treatability testing plans, budgets, and billings
- Lead research teams to conduct experiments, investigations, and data generation
- Lead laboratory safety compliance and documentation
- Lead method development efforts to coordinate testing and SOP writing that will establish new service offerings
- Recognize discrepancies in results and lead research staff to troubleshoot potential issues
- Make selections and adaptations of testing alternatives
- Perform data reviews and troubleshooting for projects of varying complexity
- Develop organized research plans, coordinate testing, and prepare reports
- Integrate and communicate with internal and external project teams and make recommendations for test plan alterations based on previous experience
- Actively participate in dissemination of research results through publication of project work, conference presentations, tours, and other demonstrations
- Collaborate with Water ARC® and Carollo teams to write proposals/grants
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in one of the following or related field
- Biological, chemical, or environmental sciences
- Environmental, civil, or chemical engineering
- 6+ years of water-related research experience including testing, operation, organization, management, and resource planning
- Ability to apply engineering principles including critical thinking, problem solving, optimization, and innovation
- Robust skills in data management/analysis/interpretation, statistics, quality management, and laboratory safety
