The Water Research Foundation (WRF) Research Priority Program identified industry challenges and helps address them through targeted, multiyear research projects. The WRF’s biofiltration research area was designed to provide drinking water utilities with tools to improve biofiltration’s effectiveness and maximize its reliability. Research area objectives were to provide guidance documents for implementing, enhancing, monitoring, and optimizing biofiltration, and to communicate biofiltration’s attributes.
