As California grapples with the dual threats of prolonged droughts and unexpected floods, the search for sustainable water solutions has never been more critical. One promising approach is gaining momentum: the use of purified recycled water to supplement water supplies, especially in water-stressed communities. To meet these growing environmental challenges, the Las Virgenes – Triunfo Joint Powers Authority is actively implementing cutting-edge water treatment methods through the Pure Water Project Las Virgenes-Triunfo.
In the first episode of the new season of the Full Circle Podcast, Riki Clark from Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD) sits down with Carollo’s Andy Salveson, a member of the Pure Water Project Las Virgenes-Triunfo design-build team. Together, they explore how purified recycled water is emerging as the most cost-effective and highest-quality new water source for drought-stricken communities like those of LVMWD and Triunfo Water & Sanitation District.
“We need an alternative supply, and purified recycled water is the most cost-effective new water supply we can bring into these communities,” Andy Salveson explains. “Through 40 years of demonstration and application, the safety in reuse is there.”
This episode highlights the importance of advanced water treatment and reuse, breaking down the multiple steps involved in producing safe, purified recycled water—a critical resource for helping communities thrive in the face of climate change.
