Marana water Dioxane and PFAS treatment

Project Overview

Carollo is performing comprehensive engineering services for Marana Water’s new 1,4-dioxane and PFAS water treatment campuses (WTC) at the Picture Rocks and Airline/Lambert water systems. The Picture Rocks WTC will be constructed at the Continental Reserve Well No. 1, reservoir, and booster site, while the Airline/Lambert WTC will be constructed at the Saguaro Bloom Well No. 1, reservoir, and booster site.

1,4-dioxane is destructed by a low-pressure high output (LPHO) ultraviolet advanced oxidation process (UV AOP) treatment using UV light and hydrogen peroxide, followed by granular activated carbon (GAC) for excess hydrogen peroxide quenching and adsorption of PFAS. Services include alternatives evaluation and an implementation plan, treatment process selection, preliminary design, detailed design, resident engineering, construction administration, startup/operations assistance, and regulatory/permitting support. Both WTCs are currently under construction.
