Project Overview
Fostering regional collaboration through the development of new guidance principles to guide future planning, with a focus on resilience.
The southeast Florida Coastal Resilience Partnership (CRP) is a regional collaborative of eleven coastal communities within and including Palm Beach County that have committed to combating and adapting to climate change. To tackle this endeavor, Carollo was selected to engage municipality staff and the public to:
- Completed a data gap analysis, synthesizing GIS data from the 11 communities.
- Collect and assess regional impact/hazard data, including potential flooding, erosion, and habitat changes along the coastline, as well as anecdotal data from community staff.
- Create a climate vulnerability assessment that includes asset categories critical to protecting and preserving the coastal communities and provides a consistent methodology for prioritizing needs and delivering on adaptation strategies.
Carollo helped the CRP foster continued regional collaboration through the development of CRP guidance principles. These principles serve as a foundation for ensuring factors that play a key role in embedding resilience in future planning, such as infrastructure, social and economic sensitivities, and protecting vital natural resources are considered.
